I've always been fascinated by carnivals—the contrast of joy and fear, the adrenaline rush, the sensory overload, the fried food, and the way young love seems to bloom under neon lights. There’s something poetic about their imperfections: the way vibrant colors clash with rusted machinery, uncovering the grittiness beneath the spectacle.
This short film concept, Carnival Daydream, was one of the most fun, absurd days I’ve had on set - whack-a-jello, bobbing for corn dogs, reverse balloon 🎈darts "throwing" a balloon at a spikey cactus 🌵🤷🏼♀️, goldfish prize poured into a fishbowl backpack, pickle 🥒 toss…. All through the lens of a daydream - an ode to adolescent — hormones on the rise with your crush orbiting nearby. It’s about the way we idolize our crushes from afar…only to get up close and realize they’re just human. Flawed. Awkward. Not what we fantasized about 😜 The illusion is cracked, but hey isn’t that just growing up 🫶🏻
